Exhibits|The Coming Community
"Hu Zhiling" seeks to explore the possibilities of digital cultural travel and rural construction in the meta-universe, and offers a "planetary scale" experience in making exhibitions.
“Hu Zhiling” is a digital curatorial project based on Augmented Reality (AR) curated by Raiden INST in 2023. Its “first scene” took place in Longyou County, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, “HúShíguāng Art Eco”. This time, as a collective practice of six groups of artists, we were invited to participate in the “New Youth Experimental Art Biennale”. The exhibition opened on March 31 at Tao Xichuan Art Museum.
The “Coming Community” does not seek a single universality, but seeks to bring together the unique experiences of different individuals. “Hu Zhiling” participated in the “Heterogeneous Constellation” segment, which showcased the currently active youth art groups. “Constellation” affirms the uniqueness of individuals within a group, while “heterogeneity” emphasizes the structural differences between groups.
In this exhibition, Raiden INST redesigns the gallery space as a “second site” and tries to put the “digital objects” from the rural context back into the space of the museum. Visitors can walk through the field reproduced by the image installation, and start the experience and interaction of AR works through mobile apps.
Right now, although the beautiful picture of “spatial computing” is still in the promotional videos of technology companies, and has not yet fully covered our lives. But for every mobile phone-holding audience and artists in the midst of media changes, “digital reality” and its accompanying new production relations have already been staged. The “Hu Zhiling” is a “product” launched by an organization that curates artists and designers with the ability to develop – it allows a dialogue between local art practices and technological art media to take place in the field. It is a dialogue between local art practice and the medium of technological art in the field, and it also brings the experience of the field into the gallery in a digital way.
Exhibition Introduction
New Youth Experimental Art Biennale is a large-scale group exhibition of science and technology initiated by Taoxicuan Art Museum, with Qiu Zhijie as the chief curator. The theme of this exhibition is “Commonality in Advent”. In a so-called “post-globalisation” era, individual destinies are torn and confronted in a fragmented situation. Single disciplinary fields are being challenged by the complexity of contemporary issues. Young people who are in a dilemma between involution and lying down are looking for a new way of survival more urgently. Through “The Coming Community”, Agamben contemplates the non-essential communion between individuals, in order to resist the impulse of the postmodern society, where the forms of life are separated and fall into nothingness.
