CV04 | ID in bodies

"In an empty black box, with no object to interact with, our consciousness is simply imprisoned."

This exhibition aims to dive into the virtual, exploring the definition of the avatar and the diversity of the body as a status symbol. At the same time, ID stands for I Dance, dancing with the avatar.

The exhibition will invite the audience to enter the space, freely explore the different forms of avatars set in the space, and experience the process of the avatar as a new consciousness carrier, interacting with the surrounding environment, models, codes and bodies. Here, the environment is no longer the background or scene of the story, but a perceptual space, an interactive space-time, a living ecology. The audience will enter the field constructed by the artist and the modeler, and together give the avatar a “soul”, reflecting its subjectivity through the perception of space.

Entering the exhibition space, we will see a giant purple avatar sculpture looking down on the arriving audience. The image comes from an interesting experience of interacting with a dancer – the arms supporting each other to construct a new body, so the sculpture shows a hollowed out ribcage, a torso of arms standing inside the ribcage, and a fingerprint in front of a semicircular palm symbolizing the avatar ID. The audience walks in the space composed of different avatar structures and feels the direct connection between the body and the “body” in different dimensions.

In CV, a relatively open, decentralized space, avatars don’t dance solo. Whether we are willing to change the mentality and Angle of view – avatar already exists. But it is only when the user’s ID forms a code, infuses an avatar, and forms consciousness that it becomes an identity and a meaningful medium. Like the movies “Ready Player One” and “The Matrix”, when the human body faces the virtual reality world, new changes will occur, that is, the construction of the “body schema” of the virtual avatar.
