Future Asset Library
"When the digitization of personal belongings meets the interaction in large spaces, how will it change the narrative patterns of culture and technology? "
The fourth session of the interdisciplinary incubation project “Capacitance” by Thunderbolt invited artists Taien Ng-Chan, Carmela Laganse, Chang Haoran, and Fengyuzhu MR Research Institute to jointly discuss digital assets and spatial narrative within the context of XR.
In today’s era of continuous digital advancement, past memories and future imaginations are intertwined, forming a brand-new narrative space through digital assets and XR technology. Our world is becoming more multi-dimensional and rich. Then, in what form will the asset library used to archive all of this in the future exist? What functions and characteristics will it possess? Can it be accessible to minority groups, not just for the majority? And can emotions and humanistic care be stored within digital assets?

This workshop will guide participants to cross the boundary between the virtual and the real, and explore the infinite possibilities of digital assets and mixed reality in emotional connection, community collaboration, and future applications. At the same time, through the technologies of large-space tracking and bare-hand interaction, the Windoor MR Research Institute will lead visitors to experience the seamless integration of the virtual and the real.

Digital Assets & Spatial Narrative
For many people, the definition of digital assets is often simply equated with virtual currency. In fact, the scope of digital assets extends far beyond this narrow understanding. Digital assets refer to all content, resources, or information that exist in digital form and possess value.
In a digital environment, the definition of assets has long since gone beyond its traditional meaning. From the scanning and virtual reconstruction of historical cultural relics to NFT artworks and virtual real estate in the metaverse, digital assets demonstrate astonishing diversity. With the support of XR technology, these assets can also convey emotions and memories in a narrative way, bringing an immersive experience to the audience. This narrative expression is not just about the utilization of assets, but also represents a deep-level interaction between creators and the audience.
