The Future_Forecast Artist Workshop

"Enter the game with artists to unlock layers of quests and fulfil the collective creation mission of the future stack world."

On 25 February 2023, artist Wu Ziyang will personally guide the audience through the initial conception of the project Future_Forecast, the twists and turns encountered during the process, the predictive assumptions brought about by the data simulation and collective genesis, as well as the considerations of the tasks, roles, and narratives of the players as a “game”. The project explores with the audience the possibilities of the Philippines as an object of research and fiction, the implications of cyberinfrastructure construction and development for developing countries, and the relationship between new infrastructures for sustainable development and discursive urban planning, among other issues.

All participants will log in with the artist to the game level of Future_Forecast, which contains a rich selection of roles and mission challenges. The clues of all the missions are basically set up from the contradictory phenomena found in the preliminary research, and they will be artistically transformed.

For example, whether to govern the Bashi River? Develop vertical farms or build data farms? Make more 3C products or build fibre optic cables with multinational telecom companies? At each node the player can choose to go towards A or B. Each choice foreshadows a different background discourse, and each future world is a different choice for the player himself.
