Season 3|
EMERGING SCI-TECH ARTIST AWARDS
For the third season of the EMERGING SCI-TECH ARTIST AWARDS, we explore the infinite possibilities surrounding the concept of Sheng (Life/Genesis). Under the theme of '[GEN-:_],' we focus on how contemporary living, labor production, and life forms are being reshaped by AI. As everything is being redefined, everyone is a 'youth' in the face of AI. This season, we are issuing an 'unrestricted' open call to artists and cross-disciplinary practitioners of all ages."
From immersive spaces to generative narratives, AI has deeply infiltrated contemporary art. Themed “[GEN-:_]”, this season’s program is a fill-in-the-blank question exploring how AI reshapes life, labor, and existence. We ask: What new ecology will emerging artists construct in the face of this technological genesis?
Debuting at the 10th UABB, this season gathers digital artists, creative coders, and “algorithmic alchemists.” As they navigate human-machine co-creation and relentless trial-and-error, one thing becomes clear: when AI resets all our experiences, everyone is a “youth.” Driven by boundless ambition, they are orchestrating an art experiment for the future.
Season 3 is open to artists of all ages—because in the age of AI, everyone is young. The program features three tracks:
01. Intelligent Space
For digital art works that combine AI-generated imagery, real-time generative systems, and immersive spatial experience, with an emphasis on perception, interaction, and responsive environments.
02. Intelligent Objects
For installation-based works that use AI technologies or reflect on AI-related issues through material form, interaction, and embodied experience.
03. Intelligent Moving Image
For film and video works created with AI and related digital tools, exploring narrative, visual language, and critical questions around technology, emotion, and perception.
Evaluation Criteria
Feasibility: Submitted works must be technically realizable and should include relevant technical documentation or demonstration materials.
Originality: Works should demonstrate distinctive thinking and innovation in relation to current AI technologies.
Communicability: Works should be accessible and legible to audiences, with strong potential for public engagement and dissemination.
Research Depth: Works should reflect in-depth research into a specific area of AI technology.
